Author Guidelines

1. General Information

JCSH accepts original scientific articles in the field of community health and related health sciences. Manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication in another journal.

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English and must follow the journal's manuscript template.

2. Types of Manuscripts

JCSH accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  1. Original Research Articles

  2. Community Service Articles

  3. Review Articles

Manuscripts must present clear objectives, appropriate methods, relevant results, and a discussion supported by current scientific references.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Authors are required to use the official JCSH manuscript template.

The manuscript should generally contain:

  • Title

  • Author names

  • Author affiliations

  • Corresponding author and email address

  • Abstract

  • Keywords

  • Introduction

  • Methods / Method of Implementation

  • Results and Discussion

  • Conclusion and Recommendations

  • References

For community service articles, the Methods section should describe the target community, location, implementation stages, intervention or solution provided, materials or instruments used, evaluation procedures, and data analysis when applicable.

4. Title

The title should be concise, informative, specific, and reflect the main topic of the manuscript.

The title should not exceed 12 words and should be written clearly without unnecessary abbreviations.

5. Authors and Affiliations

The full names of all authors must be provided in the order agreed upon by all authors.

Each author's institutional affiliation should be clearly stated.

The corresponding author's email address must be provided and should remain active throughout the publication process.

6. Abstract

The abstract must represent the main content of the manuscript and should not exceed 250 words.

The abstract should be written in one paragraph and should include:

  • Background or Introduction

  • Objective

  • Methods

  • Results

  • Discussion

  • Conclusion

The abstract should be clear and should not contain tables, figures, citations, or unexplained abbreviations.

7. Keywords

Authors should provide 2–5 keywords that represent the main concepts of the manuscript.

Keywords should be specific and relevant to the article.

8. Introduction

The Introduction should explain:

  1. The background of the problem;

  2. The current situation or problem experienced by the target population;

  3. Relevant previous studies or scientific evidence;

  4. The gap or problem that needs to be addressed;

  5. The purpose and/or objectives of the study or community service activity.

References cited in the Introduction should be relevant and preferably derived from recent scientific publications.

9. Methods / Method of Implementation

The Methods section must provide sufficient information to allow readers to understand how the study or community service activity was conducted.

For research articles, authors should describe:

  • Research design;

  • Population and sample;

  • Sampling technique;

  • Inclusion and exclusion criteria when applicable;

  • Research instruments;

  • Intervention or procedures;

  • Data collection procedures;

  • Ethical considerations when applicable;

  • Data analysis techniques.

For community service articles, authors should describe:

  • Target community or partners;

  • Location and time of activity;

  • Problems identified;

  • Solutions or interventions offered;

  • Stages of implementation;

  • Educational or intervention methods;

  • Materials and instruments used;

  • Evaluation methods;

  • Statistical analysis when applicable.

10. Results

The Results section should present the findings clearly and systematically.

Tables, figures, graphs, or other relevant visual presentations may be used to support the findings.

Every table and figure must be referred to in the text.

Tables should have a title above the table, while figure titles should be placed below the figure.

The maximum number of tables and figures is 5.

11. Discussion

The Discussion should interpret the findings rather than merely repeat the results.

Authors should:

  • Explain the meaning of the findings;

  • Relate the findings to previous studies;

  • Explain similarities or differences with previous research;

  • Provide possible explanations for the findings;

  • Discuss implications for health services, community health, education, or professional practice where relevant.

The discussion should be supported by appropriate scientific references.

12. Conclusion and Recommendations

The conclusion should directly answer the objectives of the article and summarize the main findings.

The conclusion should not simply repeat the Results section.

Recommendations may be provided based on the findings and should be practical and relevant to the target population, health services, future researchers, or other stakeholders.

13. References

References must be relevant to the manuscript and should follow APA (American Psychological Association) Style.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as:

  • Mendeley

  • Zotero

  • EndNote

All references cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and all references in the reference list must be cited in the manuscript.

Authors should prioritize recent and primary scientific sources.

14. Ethical Considerations

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical standards.

Where applicable, authors should provide information regarding ethical approval and informed consent.

For community service activities, authors should ensure that participant involvement, documentation, and data collection respect privacy, confidentiality, and ethical principles.

15. Originality and Plagiarism

Manuscripts submitted to JCSH must be original and must not have been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript does not contain plagiarism, fabricated data, falsified data, or inappropriate duplication of previously published work.

JCSH may use plagiarism detection software as part of the editorial process.

16. Authorship

All individuals listed as authors must have made a substantial contribution to the manuscript.

The order of authors should be agreed upon by all authors before submission.

Any changes to the authorship after submission must be approved by all authors.

17. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest that could influence the research, interpretation of results, or publication of the manuscript.

If there is no conflict of interest, authors should state that there is no conflict of interest.

18. Funding

Authors should disclose all sources of financial support for the research or community service activity.

If the activity did not receive specific funding, authors may state that the activity was conducted without external funding.

19. Submission and Publication Fee

JCSH does not charge authors any Article Processing Charge (APC).

Submission, peer review, editorial processing, and publication are provided free of charge.

20. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the JCSH online journal system.

Before submission, authors should ensure that:

  1. The manuscript follows the JCSH template;

  2. All authors have approved the manuscript;

  3. The manuscript has not been submitted to another journal;

  4. References and citations are properly formatted;

  5. Tables and figures are appropriately numbered and cited;

  6. Ethical requirements have been fulfilled when applicable;

  7. The manuscript is complete and ready for peer review.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the submitted manuscript.
