Abstract

The ability to predict is very important for elementary school students in order to understand and solve problems in learning. However, this ability is often not sufficiently developed by teachers. The POE (Prediction-Observation-Explanation) learning model can be a solution. This study aims to explore the effect of POE model assisted by animated video on students' prediction ability. The research hypothesis states that the POE model aided by animated videos will improve students' prediction skills compared to the conventional learning model. This study used a true experimental design (posttest-only control group design) with a quantitative approach. This study involved IVA and IVB grade students at UPT SD Negeri 1 Sumberagung as the experimental and control groups. After receiving different treatments, both classes were given an essay test in the form of five questions that measured prediction indicators. This research was conducted on January 8, 2025. The T test results (T Count 2. 541609 > T Table 2. 015368) showed that the POE model had a significant positive effect on the ability to predict elementary school students. In short, the POE model assisted by animated videos is effective in improving students' prediction skills.
