Abstract

This research aims to describe an objective literary criticism study of the novel 172 days by Nadira Shafa which views the work as an independent essence, free from social context, author and reader. The research method used is descriptive qualitative using an objective approach with data collection techniques such as reading, note-taking and analysis. The results show that the main theme in this novel is struggle and resilience, which focuses on character adaptation in facing life's challenges. The storyline tends to progress with building tension. The main character experiences significant character development. The time and place setting provides important context for the story, while the descriptive and emotive language adds interest to the narrative. The message delivered included the importance of resilience, self-confidence, and the value of friendship and family in facing various life challenges. This analysis provides an in-depth look at the elements that make up the novel 172 Days and their relevance for readers.
