Abstract

This study was to find out types, dominant types, and the meaning of figurative language in Peter Pan novel. This research is descriptive qualitative. The researchers employed both of observation and noting technique to gather the data. The researchers used Keraf’s theory to analyze the data. The result indicated that there are six types of figurative language including simile, metaphor, personification, metonymy, hypalase and irony. The dominant types of figurative language is simile. This findings have implications for the advancement of scientific knowledge on figurative language as well as for readers' comprehension of figurative language used in English literary works.
